A great introduction to art history for the whole family, this memory game comes complete with a foldout booklet identifying the artist, the name of the painting, and the year it was created. Older kids and adults can play a more advanced version of this classic game by earning additional points for remembering the specific facts behind each piece of artwork.

Artists like Andy Warhol, Edvard Munch, Stuart Davis, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Kurt Schwitters, Vincent van Gogh, Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky, and many others are featured here among 36 different artists in total.

How to play:
For younger children, play with nine pairs or fewer. For a more challenging game, geared toward older children and adults, play with all 36 pairs. Mix and spread cards face down. Players take turns flipping any two cards up. If cards match, player continues. If cards do not match, player’s turn ends and cards remain in the same position. When all cards are matched, player with the most pairs wins.

For an even more challenging game, keep score and give each player with a matching pair the opportunity to name the artist, painting, and the year it was completed. Assign player one point for each known fact, and add these onto the total number of matching pairs found in order to determine who wins!
